From Heading To The Ground Press Conference Interview

We already know the rumors that there were several TV appearances being offered to you. Among them, why did you choose “Heading To The Ground?”Those rumors about drama offerings were spread through media articles. Honestly, just when I read those articles, I was like, “Oh, I got offered for this drama?” (laughs). In fact, personal activity of each member has been already decided since last year after Tokyo Dome activities ended. I got work for “Heading To The Ground”. At that time I thought, “I got lack of skills in here, but I want to do it.”
At first, I was attracted to the drama title. Then I read the synopsis, it got to my heart. We have already taken enough honest scenes for the drama. Yet I’m still giving more efforts to show you the better appearance of me, even more.”
At the teasers that were released, there’s a kissing scene with Lee Yoon-ji. We’re curious about the shooting session of that scene.
It was a CPR, but somehow looks like kissing scene. Ooh, the viewers might get the wrong idea (laughs). Actually I was trembled almost all day even the day before the (kissing scene) shooting taken. In all my previous variety programs, I never had touched someone else lips, therefore I was thinking what would I do if I got trembled all the way. However, when we had that shooting, Yoon-ji is really friendly and comfortable, just like a friend of mine, so we could finish that scene quickly.
Being casted as a football player, are you originally interested in any kind of sports?I like playing football. But in the middle of shooting, it’s not really about defeat and being defeated. In this kind of football drama, the most important thing is to show the professional look of you as football player. When I watched the recording released today, I look good and I was satisfied (laughs).
The preparation time for absorbing the character is really short. At which part you have lack satisfaction in it?Especially at the scene in where I have no experience about. There was a scene when I was caught and handcuffed for being a non-legal residence, I’ve never been in such kind of situation so I left my imagination to lead me how am I supposed to react.
Cha Bong-gun is a cute role. He’s a nice kid, passionate, and explosive. Oh, and he’s not smart (laughs). That’s why in some parts in where I feel like experiencing it, I’m trying to express it naturally. Rather than try to act well, I’d like to be a very good soccer player as possible just like what I have impression about Cha Bong-gun in my mind, I want to show such kind of impression. Therefore the viewers can purely enjoy all the scenes.
When the drama starts to air, there must be a lot of criticisms appearing in media. Have you prepared for it?I think I should take it for granted. It’s similar when I first made my debut (as singer), I let people to grow their feelings on me. Criticisms and warm support, they actually seem to be the same good things. For the sake of “Heading To The Ground”, I have to worry anything at all.
If you would give yourself a score?I’m already expecting this question. When I was watching the teaser video back then, I was like “Ooo.. what’s that..” so maybe it’s around 50 points? (laughs). I could not reveal anything yet, and debating about my acting right now seems to be cocky. I hope all of you can look deeply in what I had been talking to you. I’m just trying to raise my score bit by bit from 0 points.

‘Heading to the Ground’ Official Interview

Jung Yunho| “TVXQ members sent a text message saying, ‘If you don’t do well, you’ll get in big trouble.’” The 21st century’s idol star is not just a star who only sings and dances on stage. Whether or not it be the fans’ wish, they have the tendency to want to do more which crosses the boundary between the stage and the rest of the world. During this period, there have been many cases where they succeed to have another career, such as being actors. TVXQ, who has the world’s largest fan club consisting of over 800,000 official members worldwide, is no exception. As a start, in 2006, they filmed the movie . As of now, Hero Jaejoong has already finished filming the tele-cinema and Max Changmin has been casted as the main in a drama <>. Finally on September 9th, the first episode of the MBC drama is set to air where TVXQ’s leader, U-know Yunho, will make his official debut as an actor. We were able to meet actor Jung Yunho at the press conference on September 2nd. We will release the official interview where most of the questions were centered around him, which proved the extent of his popularity.
What will happen to TVXQ?
Jung Yunho: Honestly speaking, I can’t say anything as of now, but more than anything, I wish that everything will be resolved well and rationally.
Honestly, isn’t it difficult for it to be solved successfully?
Jung Yunho: I don’t understand why people continue to think negatively. (laugh) In fact, there has been a lot of ugly rumors recently. So even if the problem can be solved well, there are times when I also think negatively because of the rumors. I hope no one would believe in those.
“TVXQ members support me a lot”
Did the members give any words of support or advice regarding your drama appearance?
Jung Yunho: When shooting a drama, many of the filming takes place all night long, so we often share stories through texting. “Yah, If you don’t do well, you’ll get in big trouble.” They send these types of messages. Also, since I would see all the members at home, they would ask, “Did you do well today? How was it?” When I answered by saying, “Since it was my first time I was very nervous, but I’m working really hard so watch over me with a positive view,” they would reply “Okay, we will.” These are some things, but they often support me by saying that they wish the drama will become a success.
Thoughts on filming your first drama?
Jung Yunho: I lived as a singer for five years, but it’s my first time acting. It’s new and fun. I feel as though I’m growing together with the drama. I also feel that working on one project with the director and writer itself is a life study.
It is known that there have been many dramas in which you had the choice to choose from. What would be a reason why you chose ?
Jung Yunho: I also found out from a news article about the rumored liaison for the drama. Truthfully, when I saw the article, I said, “Uh, I’m doing this drama?” (laugh) The members’ individual solo activities were matters determined last year to be after the Tokyo Dome concert. During vacation, I happened to see the script and I thought, “Even though I lack experience, I really want to do this.” I was at first attracted to the title, then when I read the synopsis, I really had the heart to do it. We’re filming right now and honestly there are a lot of parts where I’m insufficient. However, I’m putting a lot of effort to show a better performance, so I hope people will watch over me with a positive view .
“Because of the love for soccer, we do shoot-outs during filming”
In , Jung Yunho got out of his idol image by exposing his upper body as well as having a kiss scene.
What were your thoughts when meeting Director Park Sung Soo?
Jung Yunho: He was more of a neighbor hyung than a director. He gave the impression of an older cousin. We were similar in that we didn’t give up even after experiencing several life-threatening situations. I have several scars on my face and body. I received a lot of severe injuries during my lifetime. Also before debut when I came up to Seoul from Gwang-ju, while doing part-time jobs alone, there were times when I had to sleep outside. Since all the hard times went by, from now on, I hope there will only be good times.
The kiss scene between Lee Yoon Ji, who plays the character Yeoni, has been revealed; what are your thoughts about the scene?
Jung Yunho: The scene was of a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, not a kiss scene. Oh, the viewers will misunderstand. (laugh) More than anything, honestly, the day before the shooting I was very nervous before going to sleep. There has never been a time when my lip touched someone else’s whether it be during drama or variety programs. I even thought about what would happen if I were to freeze. But when we started filming, Yoon Ji noona did it comfortably like a real friend so we were able to finish it quickly.
You appear as a soccer player in the drama, did you always have a lot of interest in sports?
Jung Yunho: I normally really like soccer. Since the director also likes soccer, we do shoot-outs even during filming, but we haven’t decided the result for the game yet. In the drama, I have to portray a character who’s a professional soccer player, not just a person who enjoys playing soccer, so I would often be worried on whether I would be able to do it. But when I saw the revealed clip today, I think I hit it better than I thought I would, so I’m satisfied. (laugh)
In the released video clips, there are a lot of scenes where you’re exposing the upper body. Do you plan on showing more masculine appearances in the drama?
Jung Yunho: First, I was pretty shocked myself, because even though I wasn’t ready, there were a few scenes where I had to take off my clothes. (laugh) If I had known, I would’ve shown a better performance.

It is known that you haven’t had a lot of time to prepare for your character. When do you feel that your own acting skills are insufficient?
Jung Yunho: I feel that way especially whenever we film scenes that I haven’t experienced before. There was a scene where I had to have handcuffs on, but I didn’t know what emotions I had to put on in this situation since I’ve never been caught while doing something bad. It’s also something that can’t be done with only imagination. In a way, the role of Cha Bong Goon can be seen as a cute kid, or as a charismatic kid, and a highly motivated kid who believes in his instinct. Ah, but he’s not smart. (laugh) So in some parts, I feel that he and I are similar, so I’m trying to express it as it is. Although it’s a lot less than my urge to do better in acting, but from within the limit, I want to show Cha Bong Goon’s will to do better in soccer, my will to do better in acting. But above that, I think it’s most important to deliver the heart that is able to enjoy.
As much as you’ve officially started acting, the words of people’s criticisms will also rise. Are you ready for this?
Jung Yunho: I think that these things are natural. It was also the same when we debuted, because there were people who criticized; I was able to grow and mature. And only in this moment I will be afflicted with the growing sickness, I believe all remarks are made out of interest and concern. Criticisms are always welcomed, and if you send a warm supporting message along with it, it’ll be great. Also if those criticisms are for the sake of then I’m not worried at all.
If you had to give a score to your own acting?
Jung Yunho: Today was the better one. When I saw the teaser clips, I thought, “Ugh, what am I going to do,” but when I saw today’s, I think I’d give it around 50 points. (laugh) It’s only the beginning, so I think it’s impudent to argue back and forth regarding my acting. Teachers and seniors said that acting becomes more profound and broad-minded as you do more of it. I’m going to raise my score up slowly and orderly starting from 0.

The Secret Backstage of ShinKi [010909]

Interview took place 2 hours before their performance.
JeJung laughed and said, “long time no see~!”
In reality, I had an interview with them at July, but during that time they look exhausted…
This time round they were all high in spirit.
During the interview, YunHo and JaeJoong spoke the most. Our conversation lasted for around 20 minutes, they had mentioned a lot from the bottom of their heart, especially for YunHo.
On the first day, YunHo walked around in the resting room uncomfortable, his legs must be in pain.
Expectedly, he injured his right leg.
However he insisted on performing after acupunture.
He smiled and said, “I’m feeling better as compare to yesterday, it’s alright~”
During interview, he also showed his capability as a leader in controlling the members. (Balancing individual, making sure everyone had a chance to speak)
JeJung was in good spirits, keeping a conversation with us excitedly.
When talking about his own charisma [smile…], the rest of them look at him hilariously, which leave a strong impression on me.
ChangMin looks like an adult, very COOL.
While the rest of the members were talking, he always listens joyfully.
He said that his charisma is [sweat], which I’m a little shocked at, but people who is frank is suitable for anything.
As for JunSu, he was more or less steady.
But he starts to get excited half way through the interview. (T/N meaning he is out of control? XD)
After the interview, other than group photo taking, YuChun and JeJung also had their photo taken together for their new single, which was going to release on September. During shooting, their poses were very intimated, looks like they had a close relationship.
What did YuChun said? Ah~ he mentioned that he was there as a “joker”~
He must say something that makes everyone laugh.
He looks very calm before the actual performance… that I admire.
Which means, when JeJung said [wanting to show something new…], YuChun have to cut in with [noodle? Noodle? It’s important that it’s springy~]. (T/N making joke with Japanese words?! I guess]
Then, he have to make eyes contact with others randomly, making many different funny expressions to entertain the audience.
They went on stage, gave a performance that was way beyond standard.
Singing and dancing, were all excellent.
Their strong existence and team spirit were spectacular.
For a moment they manage to bring 5 million audiences into [The World of TOHOSHINKI].
During last year A-nation, JeJung mentioned that he kept looking out for TOHOSHINKI towel.
However, this year round, almost the whole audience was filled with TOHOSHINKI green towel.
JeJung was overwhelmed with thousand emotions, “I saw many of them. This year is the best!”
Almost 5 years after they debuted in Japan, they had successfully become Japan top artist.
Where would they head towards after this?

----Let’s begin. How did you find the photo shoot for the ‘Coach special’?
YC: I was really nervous *laughs*
CM: I was really embarrassed doing the photo shoot with Mikiko (T/N: Female model)
----You’ll be releasing your single soon, the title left a deep impression on me.
YC: When I heard the title, I thought “It’ll be hard introducing this song’ *laughs*
CM: The members will need to adjust their voices to introduce the song during lives
---Amongst your ballads, there’s never been such a song like this before
YC:The moment I heard it, I thought ‘it’s amazing’! It’d be great if you listened to it on a summer night. I’m confident that everyone will be able to hear it in their hearts.
----Because last summer’s single was a lively single, I was surprised that this single was a ballad
YC: Although we suggested an up tempo song with a summer feel when choosing songs for the single, when I first heard this song, I really wanted to sing this song, I strongly felt this way. I wanted to change THSK’s summer image.
----The lyrics are really sad. ‘Why do I like you?’ Have you ever had such an experience in real life?
YC: When I stayed in America, I broke up with my then-girlfriend to return to Korea to pursue my dream. The feelings I had at that point in time, a mixture of helplessness and wanting her to be happy are similar to the song’s lyrics
----If the girl you love chooses someone else, what will the two of you do?
YC: I’ll think of her feelings. Should I try to communicate my feelings to her subtly?
CM: I don’t like to give up in anything that I do. Therefore, I do not want to give up
----That’s good. The girls will support you, right, Mikiko?!
Mikiko: Ha….Hai….That’s right <3>
YC: Although ‘Why do I like you?’ was a new challenge, it was THSK’s first try at doing Reggae. The song was custom made for our live concerts/ performances. During lives, I want to raise my hands and wave them around with everyone... I want to enjoy it together (with everyone)
CM: All of us might just come out in sunglasses and dread locks to perform this song *laughs*
-----Everyone’s live tour was a huge success with 150,000 fans attending the live concert
YC: This wasn’t THSK’s strength alone, but the staffs and everyone who went for the live. I feel indebted to them. I’m so full of thankfulness.
CM: I felt the magnificence of the power of music once again. The venue got bigger and bigger, And I feel very proud that we were able to meet with 150,000 fans

JS: I think it's my bed; I place many pillows there, so I can put my computer on my bed and watch movies leisurely

JS: Yeah, that's right, Really rarely seen! He never cleans up after studying, and the next person will see this (the food remains on the table) *laughs*
CM: *Quietly* When they talk like this, it proves that their relationship (Junsu and Jaejoong) is very good
JJ: Last time, he only cleaned his own cup and didn't bother about the others. In the end, I had to wash the rest (of the cups)
CM: HAHAHA~ That really happened before *laughs* However, not everyday is like that!
JJ: (Immediately) But almost everyday is like this
CM: HAHAHAHAHAHA *laughs* Sorry!!
Q: So who has always been the one in charge of cleaning up?
CM: *Slowly raising his hand*
JJ: AH~ That’s not good. Besides Changmin, everyone else will do a little of the household chores, but Changmin only looks after himself.

Q: Did you buy anything recently?
JJ: I recently bought a 320 GB hard drive for about 14,000 yen
JS: My 150 GB hard drive is full

JS: Music, movies, dramas, games….
CM: Junsu's hard drive is completely filled with games!!!

JS: Recently, I like playing [Warcraft]

JS: However, it's more comfortable this way! You can turn here (left) and there (right), ah ah, they are everywhere~~ (Junsu was very excited talking about pillows!!!)

Q: Does everyone cook often?
JJ: Yeah. I like jjigae (stew) very much, that’s why I like cooking it. When I was younger, my dad wasn't at home most of the time because he had to work, so I had to cook for myself when I was alone. I slowly started getting better at it.
Q: Have the 2 of you tried the jjigae that Jaejoong cooked before?
CM: I ate it before
JJ: EH? Weren't you eating it yesterday?? They just ate it yesterday~~ *laughs*
CM: Ah, he made some for me yesterday; and made some modifications to the jjigae as well
JS: That's right! I really want to see food that was cooked meticulously *laughs*
JJ: I cooked some yesterday, but Junsu wasn't eating because he was on a diet. Yoochun and Changmin both tried it, Junsu didn't eat so he didn't see it. The reason why he didn't eat was also because he kept playing that game
Q: Were you playing [Warcraft]? Alone?
JS: Not alone
JJ: You were alone, YOU WERE ALONE!!
JS: I was playing with someone far away, because it's an online game
CM: Online?? *laughs*
JS: I called all my friends on, and were playing online together, so it's alright *laughs*
Q: So, was the jjigae Jaejoong cooked delicious?
JS: The soup was really tasty!
JJ: I'm very good!
CM: And how would you know?
JS: I tried it, although there weren't any ingredients left, but the taste was really good
Q: Have you guys ever made anything for Jaejoong then?
JJ: They never did!
JS: No, we did! Like ramen and such
CM: But it's just instant noodles *laughs*
JJ: That was so long ago! They are a bunch of annoying people *laughs*
[The instruments they are now practicing diligently]
Q: Everyone's learning some kind of instrument now. So I would like to ask how your lyric writing/song composing is coming along
JJ: I'm working diligently in song writing, everyone's doing it too! It's a little harder because we don't have much time. That…….inspiration?
CM: Inspiration?!!
JJ: I don't really have any inspiration, that means I don't really have the ‘song writing’ feel… Anyway it's just more difficult. I really wish I had more time to listen to music. The atmosphere to stimulate the musical inspiration is very important. I’ll do some occasionally when we were rushing through our schedules, but it’s never enough.
Q: Do you let the other members listen to the songs you compose?
CM: Yeah
JJ: But if I let Changmin listen to it, he’ll never give a good reaction/opinion.
Q: Changmin has a sharp tongue? *laughs*
CM: No!!
JJ: Yeah! Very sharp.
JS: I compose songs too, but recently, I've been learning Korean percussion instruments, like drums (Janggo- Korean traditional drum)
Q: Junsu's sense of rhythm is very good!
JS: This…I'm not sure about that *laughs*
JJ: But he started learning at a young age
JS: I've performed this in public before
Q: Junsu's drum playing…..are you very good?
JJ: I have never seen it, but I've seen him doing impromptu drum playing before. I thought it was pretty good

CM: I haven't been writing songs recently. I learned the flute before last time.

JS: No, it's not like that!! I'm very talented! However, it's hard for me to choose what exactly I want to learn *laughs*
JJ: You should have decided before you even starting playing!

Q: What do the 3 of you talk about when you get together?
JJ: Stuff like what we talked about in today's interview.
JS: It felt very normal.
JJ: We either bully people or get bullied. *laughs*
CM: We'll chat.
Q: Will you talk about singing or dancing?
JJ: We'll talk about this when the 5 of us are together. When the 5 of us get together, then we'll talk about THSK's music. But when it's 3 people, then we wouldn't
JS: We'll talk about the economy……

CM: That was a lie *laughs*
JS: Ah, ah! That was true! *laughs* We'll talk about the stock market, the economy……
CM: DO YOU BELIEVE HIM????

CM: He's sleep talking
JS: No, recently, I've been thinking about the problems the world is facing, and the future…
CM: Because of this, the other member's have been worrying about Junsu's future! *laughs*

CM: What kind of person will Junsu become? This question is really worrying! *laughs*
Q: Hmm, I can tell that the 3 of you seem very close. This is a good 3 member group!

Q1: What do you like about Thailand?
Junsu: I like coconuts. ma-praw, phom rak khun [Coconut, I love you.]

Junsu: phom rak ma-praw mak mak [I love coconuts very much.]
I like the way Junsu experiments with his limited knowledge of the Thai language ^^ And Micky's a pro here, he knew Xiah didn't say the phrase correctly and promptly fixed it.
Micky likes the rainy weather in Thailand. He thinks it's romantic. JaeJoong likes elephants. This is the cute part where JaeJoong, Micky and Junsu mimicked the guest MC's elephant ear movement ^^ Max likes Muay Thai, traditional Thai martial arts, and Yunho likes the golden architectural style.
Q2: Have you ever thought of releasing a Thai album?
Yunho says they do, but they need to learn Thai language first. Junsu then goes on to describe how they like the Thai language because of its tonal nature, how it sounds melodic.
Q3: What's the concept of the 2008 photobook?
Yunho describes the two main concepts: one of them blending into the majestic natural scenery, the other of them on a camping trip. The photobook will be on sale in Korea and Thailand at the same time, and the version on sale in Thailand will have extra pictures.
Q4: Did you encounter any problem during the photoshoot?
Junsu says the main problem was the heat! They were sweating so much they had to keep wiping themselves dry. Plus cacti needles latched on to their pants! He adds that the scenery was very beautiful so they didn't feel tired, that it was fun.
Q5: So do you have plans to do a photobook in Thailand?
JaeJoong says they do and pretends to conspire as to when's a good time. They'd love to do a photoshoot in Thailand because there's such a variety of locations - the beautiful, natural scenery and the buzzling, vibrant metropolitan. If they have the chance, they'd love to come.
Q5: Do you have a location in mind? The sea?

Yunho explains how Dong Bang Shin Gi members become "Thai" upon their arrival in Thailand, how they'd like to share the reverence Thais have for HM the King.
JaeJoong adds they've never seen HM the King in person but they've seen him on television and witnessed their Thai friends/staff's love for HM the King. Dong Bang Shin Gi would like to be friends with Thais, so they wore the pink wristbands express their feelings and be "Thai".
Q8: Finally, what would you like to say to your Thai fans?
Micky: It's been a long time since we've been here. We feel kind of guilty for having received so much love from our Thai fans. So we'll try to come more often in return for our fans' love.
Micky: We are now working on our 4th Korean album, showing more facets of Dong Bang Shin Gi. We're putting a lot of effort into this album. Please look forward to it and continue to support us.

TVXQ on being mature

“Through our Japanese debut, it was possible for not only our music but also ourselves to mature,” TVXQ said during an interview the group had for the segment “The Interview” of OBS “Show Report, Movie Report. “We topped Japan after our third year. At first, we’re very insecure but as we accepted the local culture, we’re able to touch different world views. In that process, we matured,” TVXQ said.
The group also shared its experiences when they were still relatively unknown in the Land of the Rising Sun. Now, the group has a huge tarpaulin at the Shibuya Plaza.
“Before, we used to walk in the streets wearing training clothes but because a lot of people have recently become aware of us, we wear more presentable clothes as much as possible.
“During our debut, we just sang in front of 50 people but now, we perform in arenas that hold thousands of people. What we are today is a product of a process,” TVXQ recounted.
TVXQ’s “The Interview” episodes will be broadcast on February 23 and March 1.

Kindai's Interview to JaeJoong (English Translation)

Jaejoong, you’re alone this time.I’m alone! Although I’m a little shy, I’ll do my best!Can you explain what kind of group THSK started off as again?Yeah, yeah, THSK is a 5 member vocal and dance group. The 5 of us met by fate and formed THSK. We debuted in Japan in April 2005. THSK means Gods springing out from the eastEh? It isn’t ‘springing out’ but ‘rising’ right?That’s right. It’s ‘rising’ *laughs* If we were ‘springing out’ then we’ll become “Dong Bang Shin Bi” [Gods Rising from the East] *laughs* It’s ‘rising’! Leader Yunho is very responsible and has a strong sense of integrity. Although Changmin is the youngest, he seems to have the oldest mental age. The rest of us are younger (in terms of mental age) *laughs* And Changmin is very diligent, Junsu is very talented, he can sing and dance very well, and he’s usually the mood maker in the group. Yoochun’s hobby is composing songs and writing lyrics and works hard at it during his free time. He wouldn’t give up even when he is faced with something he cannot do. He really works very hard.This time in the new album [T], there’s a song that’s written and composed by Yoochun right?Yeah, that’s right! Although I only participated in composing the song, I decreased my sleeping time everyday by 3 hours to work diligently on this song. However, because of my participation, the song is a little darker from the version that Yoochun originally had in his mind. *laughs* I usually like sad songs and this song also communicates sad feelings. I composed the A and B melody while Yoochun composed the bridge part of the song. We have already released a song that we composed in Korea (T/N: I think he means TVXQ as a whole, therefore referring to Evergreen) but this is the first time we’ll be releasing a song composed by us in Japan and it’s also the first time that 2 people jointly composed a song, so it’s very meaningful. Yoochun wrote the lyrics for this song, the content is very heartbreaking. The title [Just after we kissed, goodbye] sounds very sad, doesn’t it? Yeah, it does. Is this a song where the girl has already died?Yeah, the main character reminisces about the girl that is no longer with him. Although he knows that she isn’t there anymore, but to him, it’s just like she’s living by his side, it’s very sad right? She isn’t there any longer, although there isn’t any way to kiss, but in the main character’s memory, he kissed the girl before saying goodbye. The narration part where Yunho says ‘She was once my everything’ was especially heartbreaking. When you listen to this song carefully when it’s quiet, you’ll be able to fully appreciate the sadness of this song. [T] is an album that has various meanings that we’re very satisfied with. From the musical aspect, we have matured a lot, it seems that we are moving closer to our ideal musical style, you can say that this is proof of THSK’s maturity!I see.
